Spring Break Travel Classics!

When it comes to popular destinations, many travelers want to head south to catch a few rays – and maybe waves after some frosty winter months nationwide. Some of the most popular spring break destinations include:

Las Vegas Spring Break

While there aren’t any beaches in Las Vegas, it would be hard to find a rowdier spring break crowd elsewhere. Hit one of the notorious pool parties and dance the night away in any of the casinos and clubs on the strip. If you’re looking for thrills, look for nearby excursions like the Grand Canyon and hike or ride a mule to the bottom, ride the Sling Shot and The Big Apple Coaster at New York New York, or the Fly Linq zip line 12 stories over the Strip.

Florida

Inconsistent from our cities-focused list, the sunshine state delivers as a whole in spring break destination musts. Different cities have different allures, but between Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, and Miami there’s a lot to choose. While not coastal, Orlando offers theme park thrills and entertainment year-round at trademark pleasant weather. Fort Lauderdale and Miami on the other hand, are perfect for those itching to get some sun, sand, and choice waves. Fort Lauderdale has a firm focused beach tourism brand, while Miami offers a lot more of a nightlife with some of the best clubs and bars in the state.

New Orleans

The Crescent City is a prime destination for those seeking epic nightlife mixed with Southern comfort food. Book around Mardi Gras to avoid the worst of airfare and hotel prices. While the holiday may seem worth it, you’ll have a less hectic and more affordable spring break vacation just a month after everyone’s had their fill of king cake and beignets. You can still expect plenty of opportunities for sun, fun, and outdoor festivities, making NOLA the perfect place to plan everything from a long weekend getaway to a full spring break vacation. Mardi Gras is just a precursor for the next three months filled with spring festivals from Jazz Fest and the French Quarter festival to Bayou Boogaloo to the New Orleans Book Festival.

San Diego

After a chilly winter, there are worse places to be in March than San Diego, California. The weather is mild and there is plenty of much-missed sunshine and the college students are out for spring break. With the temperatures warming, going to the beach or the sea is a great idea and you are still in time for California whale watching season.

Cancun

Cancun has all the makings of a quintessential spring break getaway. Along with its white sand beaches and beautiful coastline, this Mexico city boasts numerous all-inclusive resorts with budget-friendly packages that cover drinks, meals and entertainment, plus a rollicking nightlife scene. Mexico offers the feeling of international travel with the perks of being fairly close to home. Americans aren’t blessed with international travel opportunities as Europeans with densely packed countries, but after spending 6 months hiding from snow, Cancun is one of the best destinations a travel-hungry spring breaker could ask for.
